NYE at Moscow (Part II)

Posted by Aysha Razali at 5:56 PM 0 comments

Ok, so here we are at Old Arbat Street. It is a long pedestrian street that stretches about 1km , a perfect place to burn down all those calories from Chilli's (read : NYE at Mowscow (Part I))

The walkway was so peaceful and serene, all you can see are beautiful paintings everywhere and all you can hear is harmonious music that makes you feel like wanna jump into a bubble bath at that instant.

He played a song specially for us

Other street performers with their unique instruments

We were waiting for Armin to meet up, so we decided to just walk about and kill time that way

Dom Aktyora

Goofed around with a PINK ushanka - that I nearly fainted for

Still Armin wasn't here yet, and just after we were out of ideas on where to go - we found this...

It sent chills down to my spine, I came out from here feeling all nauseated

I swear I won't step inside that anymore!

Just by the time we came out, Armin arrived. Since I feel like throwing-up in any second, we straight away dashed to Cinnabon (ok fine, the throwing up part  is just an excuse)

it was more because of the cinnamon rolls

Armin suggested one place for us to visit or better know as - МГУ  or M.V.Lomonosov  Moscow State University. It is the top institution in Moscow and the main building is one of the Seven Sisters built during Stalin's era.
In front of M.V.Lomonosov's statue - a famous Russian polymath

Still it was too early to move to Red Sq where the countdown will take place, but all shops were closing/closed already by now. This is totally unfair? It's only 8pm people!! Left without a choice and since only coffee-house is open 24hrs on NYE, there we went to lepak - what a smart business strategy *pat on the back for CH*

I feel like having every single thing on the menu

Finally, it's the final countdown!!! We reached Red Sq around 11pm and the people there were like an endless ocean, more like a mob. We didn't dare to go close as there were so many screenings to go through. Afraid that it'll be difficult for us to run back to the metro station, once after all is over. Hence, we started playing smart and safe.

Welcome two zero one two!

Our train back to kursk was at 725am and it was only 12am at that moment so we thought to rest at the lounge in Kurskaya Vokzal. Unfortunately, we missed, not really missed but just let's say that we didn't manage to get on the last metro to Kurskaya Vokzal and were left stranded there in Red Square. How sad is that???!!
However, just like a sign telling us, we stopped and sighed helplessly, and much to our surprise, Coffee House was just next to us. We literally ran inside and took our spots - which became our spot for a good 6 hours.

And we ended up doing....

One was fixing her hair & look

One was all sleepy dreamy creamy

One was super duper hungry she feels like eating everything in 1m radius.

At sharp 6am we took the first metro and headed to Kurskaya Vokzal. In between, we made a quick dash to Park Pobedi station as it is known for being the deepest metro station in Moscow (and 2nd deepest in the world)

and of course it contains the longest escalator too. That is why Jackie Chan had a movie scene shot here, so he could have take 1 take 2 ..until take 20!

At last, the time to go back! What's funny is we mistakenly bought our train ticket and we ended up in a place like this...

For 8 and a half hours..could you believe that?!

But still, for how tired we were, we just slept all our way through..and reached Kursk safely.

Money Matters

Posted by Aysha Razali at 11:30 PM 0 comments

Today I attended the graduation of winter batch '12. It was such a happy moment for all the graduates and of course mixed with sad emotions too.

I envy those graduates that are free from obligations for the time being. The part I envy the most is, they'll be going back home, start working and earning their own MONEY..

Wow!!
How cool is that,huh?

As I was thinking of how cool that is, suddenly I felt scared..

WORK = EARNING OWN MONEY = BUILDING OWN LIFE.

Yes, it only sounds nice till the part "earning own money", but, building your own life? Of course no one would want a life worse than what they are living now. So do I. Therefore,to start off and making it as comfortable as my life is at this moment, that's one heck of a challenge that I'm not sure I can win over :-(

My parents have been raising me in a very comfortable lifestyle - everything is complete and always enough (more than enough).
Of course, to provide a life like that requires hard work, good financial planning and a whole lot more.

Im gonna graduate in 5 months time and I too will soon embark on this working life journey, putting myself in  the same s***.
So what scares me is, that my parents have done so well till they are able to provide me with this kind of lifestyle, but, will I be able to appreciate what they've done all this while by working as hard/harder and maintain the lifestyle they've given? Even scarier to think, will I be able to make their lives better than they make theirs?

(?)_(?)

I hope I can. I hope I will.

Another 5 more months to enjoy this student life.

NYE at Moscow (Part I)

Posted by Aysha Razali at 7:13 PM 0 comments
Well, it has been 2 weeks since I came back from Moscow.
Boy, procrastinate is definitely my middle name!

The night before we left, we stopped by at McD's first, just for no purpose. On one hand we were excited as this is our 1st trip together and our very first trip to celebrate NY in Moscow, but on the other hand we were sad as our 1/4th wouldn't be able to come along - Bestie D.

Finally it snowed! I was waiting so long for you to come!

Bestie D did great in hiding her sad face

Our train left at 2215 and we're bound to Moscow at 0630. We took "plus cart" because  we needed a good rest, as we will be walking around Moscow for the whole day (and night) on the next day, but, us being us, we just can't stop talking, joking around, laughing at every small matter possible and as you've expected, of course, noisy...

Who says laughing mute is easy?

Then when everybody else on board was sleeping (and so were us, supposedly)...

One was nibbling on to KitKat

One was having a sweet talk on the phone

and One was just so bored she had to snap all these pics!

Eventually we all did sleep and the next thing in the morning we knew was,  greeted Good Morning by Kremlin.

Moscow never sleeps

Freshened up in Mcd's and waited there for a good 2hours, just for the sun to come out.

All fresh and ready to go!

Finally, it was bright enough for a winter day, so we went out for a stroll along Kremlin and snapped pictures..

Kremlin

Labyrinth

Bolshoi Theatre

Kremlin Museum

After a loooooong stroll along Kremlin, we walked our way thourgh to Red Square. Lucky we were that morning, we manage to see the guard-changing process!

Goofing around at the Red Building

Statue of Marshall G.K.Zhukov

Lenin's Masoleum

Borovitskaya Tower

The candy castle - St. Basil Cathedral

Though I wore 4 layer of outfits, (enough to stand Moscow's weather, so I thought), but after 60mins being there I had to hold up a white flag. Besides, many Caucasian tourists were asking to take pictures with us because they thought one of my friends is Juhi Chawla *lol*.
So, we headed to GUM (read : goom), which is one of the famous high-class shopping complex in Moscow.
Of course we went there just to get warm, not shopping!

poor hungry kid went to sleep instead

Woke up as they decided to move on to New Arbat St. for Chilli's.
(we don't have Chilli's in Kursk, so, pardon me for being hyped about it)

the main reason

dah nak exit pon masih craving

Later we headed to the famous Old Arbat street. Even I had been there trice, but I still can't get enough of it. Besides, my two besties haven't been there yet...

TO BE CONTINUED...

SEE YOU LATER IN OLD ARBAT :-)
