Back to Business

The Gurlz had their 1st busy day of the semester - cooking for new 1st year students who just arrived, preparing breakfast (spaghetti bolognese), lunch (rice + black pepper chicken) & dinner (rice + mixed vege + chicken sambal) for 65 people. People often ask us, why is it that we wanna go through all this trouble, as if we are desperately in need of money. The answer is - hell no! We just :

1. Need a reason to spend time with each other. Trust me, a whole day under one roof together was totally not enough. We missed each other the very next day itself.

2. Enjoy cooking, especially when bestie S is a great cook, I learn a lot from her. I didn't have a high level of confidence cooking for sooo many people back then.

3. We're the out-going type. We'll rot coz its plain bored if we don't do anything here in Kursk. It's either we'll go out or stay at home & be busy. We just need to be on the move.

4. Money was never the intention, but it can be an initiative :) Plus, I like it when I can earn my own money from my own sweat, it's some kinda satisfaction I can't explain. It becomes sweeter, when I manage to save it!

So, there we go.....

I had to be in-charge of the chicken, but I seriously have a major phobia with hot oil in the pan (nearly cost me half of my face once) so there I was, trying to get all the protection I could ; wearing specs, arm covered, turned my hijab to a niqab & staying like 5 steps away from the stove.

Managed to fry about 150 drumsticks, but I didn't overcome the phobia, yet

With bestie P - the rice manager

Besti D - just recovered from chicpox, straight away came and helped us ,she was the vege mixer.

Bestie S - the mastermind, of course with the toughest task; the gravy

Mesyuarat tergempar - to make sure we're on track with time

Then it was packing time..we were already smelling the smell of our comfy beds & pillows at this time..it was just a matter of time.

After we're done with our last deliver, we had dinner and must-do-ritual - pillow talk, this time instead of talking we created our own ABC dictionary :) The 'game' was so much fun till everyone dozed off and greeted by the sun which was about to have lunch already the next day...
